Close like a professional

Chicago, 1972.

I started to sweat. My face turned beet red. My intimidating prospect wasn’t helping. He stared daggers and tapped his fat fingers. Dead silence.

My heart beat worked overtime. I had to do something before fainting. My amateur presentation was over. Time to close.

Why was my throat so tight? I needed to say something before I passed out from not breathing. My voice squeaked:

“So, would you like to join?”

My prospect squinted his eyes and sharply said, “Get out!”

That was my introduction to closing prospects. Humiliation on steroids.

It got worse.

My worthless sponsor asked for a report. I told him, “My prospect said he wasn’t interested.” My worthless sponsor’s advice? “Go back and close harder. Don’t be a wimp.” (I didn’t go back.)

Here is what I didn’t know this early in my career:

Why this prospect was angry.

The 3 things I did wrong before I started.

What was the biggest turnoff for this prospect.

Why I had things out of order.

The correct words to say to close.

What happens in prospects to trigger their decisions.

The part I had to play to make closing work.

When is the real moment of decision.

And well, much, much more.

Of course I wouldn’t know any of this. I just started my network marketing career. I hadn’t learned the closing skills yet. And it didn’t look like my worthless sponsor was going to give me any either.

My choices?

1. Continue my career of humiliation and no results.

2. Learn what I didn’t know about professional closing.

I chose option #2.

My payoff?

The ability to close one more prospect meant bigger bonus checks for life. I love great payoffs for our learning time.

So what would be your payoff if you could close better? Yes, bigger bonus checks. Life is good if we make it good.

Here are great closing choices for our business. Pick the one that works for us, at this stage of our career. Ready?

1

Choice 1: Free. Enroll in the free 7-lesson mini-closing course to get started. Starting is better than staying where we are. Here is the link: BigAlBooks.com/closing

2

Choice 2: Take that $4.99 we were going to spend at Starbucks tomorrow morning and get this book. Trust me. Starbucks won’t miss the money. They will survive. Start with this book, Pre-Closing. A real eye-opener. Reading this book is more exciting than Starbucks’ caffeine. Here is the link: bigalbooks.com/book/pre-closing/

No other choices?

Okay, here is one more choice.

Choice 4: That choice would be to do nothing. We want our business to improve, and that won’t happen unless we take some action. Let’s ignore this choice.
