A simple sentence to get your prospect’s instant attention

A simple sentence to get your prospect's instant attention

Before starting your presentation, you could say:

  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how you can quit your job and still make more money.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how you can get a full-time income by working two nights a week.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how you can get a new car and never have to make car payments again.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how we can become millionaires.”
  •  “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how we can get free vacations for life.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how my friend got a 50% raise, and now works from home.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how we can be in business together.”
  • “If you have a few minutes, I would like to tell you how I get business tax deductions, just like the big companies.”

“If you have a few minutes ...” is a great opening phrase that is polite and avoids rejection.

Isn’t that more interesting?

Those are examples of first sentences that may interest your prospect.

Here are some examples of first sentences that may create sales alarms and resistance in your prospects:

  • “Let me tell you about my wonderful business.”
  • “I’ve got a great opportunity that I know would be perfect for you.”
  • “Do you keep your residual income options open?”
  • “I just got involved with the most wonderful company and products ...”
  • “This is a ground-floor opportunity guaranteed to be a winner.”

Well, you get the idea.

Some sentences will create good, open-minded prospects who are willing to listen to us, and some sentences will close the minds of our prospects instantly.

Use your imagination.

Pretend you are the prospect. What would the prospect like to hear?

For example, if you want an opening question to prime your prospects on the power of the tax advantages of a home-based business, try some of my favorites such as:

  • “Would you like to get a $100 tax refund every month?”
  • “Are you paying the maximum taxes allowed by law by being a job holder?”
  • “Would you like to get some of the tax deductions used by the wealthy?”
  • “Would you like to celebrate April 15th every year - and laugh while your friends pay taxes?” (April 15th is tax day in the U.S.)

Ideas?

And finally, here are some of my favorite headlines and first sentences to kickstart your imagination before we start the next chapter:

  • “Is this your secret problem?” (Curiosity makes this one easy.)
  • “Skip commuting and work from your home.” (The pain of sitting in traffic and burning expensive fuel will motivate this prospect to listen.)
  • “99% of your friends are wrong.” (Since we agree, we want to hear more.)
  • “Take 3 inches off your waistline this weekend.” (As dieters, we will hold out eternal hope for almost any dieting promise. The next few examples demonstrate that promise to dieters.)
  •  “The fat-burner that works while you sleep.”
  • “The herbal diet remedy that almost works too quickly.”
  • “Only dumb people diet the old-fashioned way.”
  • “Do you know anyone with Christmas bills?” (Very specific target statement. If we know someone with this problem, then we will have their total attention.)
  • “How to change a dead-end career.” (Attracts someone who is open-minded and has not given up hope.)
  • “When NOT to eat healthy.” (Got my attention right away!)
  • “Three reasons to fire your boss tomorrow.” (Gives prospects a vision of changing their lives immediately.)
  • “How to get rid of debt in just three years.” (Three years seems realistic and believable.)
  • “Why your neighbors and friends get ahead - and you don't!” (We all think that others have some secret that we don’t know. We have to know more!)
  • “Never pay a mobile phone bill again.” (People get excited because they feel overcharged by utility providers.)
  • “Only three hours of sleep - here's proof!” (I learned this from Art Jonak. If you add the words “Here’s proof!” ... people are naturally curious to know more.)
  • “Take a six-month vacation twice a year and hire your boss to do the work.” (Totally unrealistic, but we dream, and want to hear more.)
  • “Think like a millionaire.” (Thinking doesn’t sound too hard. Seems like an easy step to take.)
  • “Why this 28-year-old high school dropout earns more than his boss.” (We feel that we have more skills and more knowledge than a 28-year-old dropout. Gives us confidence that we can surpass the dropout’s results.)
  • “Look like a millionaire for less than $50.” (Doesn’t sound hard. Who wouldn’t want to look awesome for less than $50?)
  • “Earn more money than your spouse can spend.” (The humor will bring a smile to the prospect’s face, and will naturally lower the sales resistance.)
  • “Have that exclusive spa facial look for only $1.95 a day.” (Reducing the cost to a daily amount is an easy way to get past price resistance.)
  • “Do you swallow hard when your boss tells you to work overtime?” (We all have pride and hate feeling powerless. This question strikes hard at those emotions.)
  • “Retire at age 35 - not age 65.” (And you could change that age to 25 if you were talking to younger prospects.)
  •  “Kiss your credit card debt goodbye.” (Targets people who have crushing minimum payments on their credit cards. Their motivation for more money to make these payments will keep their minds open for your presentation.)
  • “Kiss your mortgage goodbye.” (People dream of the extra cash flow when they don’t have huge mortgage payments.)
  • “Let strokes and heart attacks happen to somebody else.” (To live forever ... yes! Or at least a long time. It is the unknown that stresses prospects. Here is a promise to remove this unknown and relieve them of that stress.)
